Mr. Fish and I are nearing our 15th anniversary. In fact, it is one month from today! 15 years ago we were married at a place called La Caille. It is an amazingly beautiful restaurant (if you can call it that) situated on a HUGE piece of property. When you arrive you drive up a winding brick road and with each foot you travel you are transported to the French countryside. Honest. I don’t know how they did it, but it is amazing. It is hard to believe you are still in Utah! Well, we went back this weekend for dinner with our foodie friends. Honestly, I didn’t need to eat because the scenery is a feast for the eyes. It is hopelessly romantic. There are animals frolicking about…swans, geese, ducks, peacocks and bunnies. There are flowers and ponds and streams. There is beautiful French décor. And, yes, the food IS amazing. If you can stop looking around long enough to eat! Can you tell that I love this place?
Here is the front entrance:
Nothing screams “FRENCH” more than geraniums in a pot on a window sill.
Look closely, do you see the peacock on the roof?
As we were eating our dinner peacocks, ducks and bunnies would walk past (we were sitting right next to a door that opened onto the patio).
There are few places as charming and romantic as La Caille. It is like stepping through a portal and being transported to another country. Oh! And they filmed a movie here. In the room that I dressed in on my wedding day. I bet you will never guess what movie!!! Dumb and Dumber. Serious.
Do you remember this scene? Jim Carey is lighting some gaseous fumes on fire. Classy, eh? But let’s not let that determine if the place is classy or not.
La Caille is wonderful and beautiful, but I am really more excited that in one month we will be on a plane to Paris. Exactly one month until I get to gorge myself on beautiful scenery, amazing French pastries and lots and lots of flea market shopping. I really will be transported into another world. I simply cannot wait!
