You may remember me talking about my Grandmother passing away last December. Well, this weekend we spent some time cleaning out bits of her home. As weird as it was, it was also wonderful. We found such wonderful things. My family is full of not only quilters, but tatters. Tucked away in her closet and her cedar chest were these beautiful treasures…
These are hankies. I took four. One for each of my girls, one for my son’s future wife and one for me. I think I will keep the pink one!
I wish I knew who made these and what their history is.
They are lovely and sweet. I just adore them. Another thing that was big in my family was pillowcases. They would do the most beautiful embroidery, then tat lace on the edges. My Grandma had a whole cedar chest full of these….
Most of these have been used once or not at all. Too beautiful to be put away forever. Truth be told, though, I have some tucked away in my cedar chest. I want to use them, see them, love them, but I don’t want to ruin them. Such a hard thing! There were even more treasures, but I will save them for tomorrow!
