We did something crazy this weekend, we got ANOTHER dog. We have had Milli for 11 years. She has been a good dog and we love her dearly. We had a great dane that passed away four years and four days ago (not quite over that yet).
So here is the crazy story… My son came into my the other morning and said that he wanted a brother (OH BOY!!). So I explained to him how long it would take to get a brother here and that it would take a few years after that to be able to play with him. He kicked his negotiating skills into high gear and tried to work a deal. “How about we have a brother in a year and he is my age” he says. Umm….well…..So I explain that we could adopt a brother. This starts getting REALLY complicated in his mind. In the end, we settle on a dog. FHEW!
So we go to the animal shelter to pick one out. Actually, we thought we knew exactly what we wanted. They had a great dane mix there. They bring out the dog and it is as crazy as the day is long. We decide that we will get her. Then the lady says, “Let me show you one more dog”. This is a BAD idea for me, because I can’t stand the thought of homeless pets so I am afraid I will like the other dog, too, and not be able to choose. So out comes Ginger. She is the sweetest little red bonned coon hound. SO CUTE and so sweet. Curls up behind my kids and tries to go to sleep! Truman (my six year old) won’t go near her because we already said we were going to take the dane. He was so upset about leaving the dane. I guess he has some of his mama in him. We ask the lady if the dane will be likely to get adopted. She says there has been a lot of interest in her. Truman starts to feel better. Finally, the whole family agrees on the coon dog.
This is ginger. But not for long. We are going to name her something different. We just aren’t sure what yet. Want to help? Here is what we have so far…
Keep in mind, you have to say Milli before all of these names to get the full effect….Vanilli, (and) Maggie or (and) Molly. What do you think? Do you have a better idea? I would love to hear your opinions!
